ASDA Price Guarantee

Terms & Conditions

How the ASDA Price Guarantee works

If we're not 10% cheaper than Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and Waitrose on your comparable grocery shopping we'll give you the difference. Guaranteed!

We will always issue a voucher for the largest amount, if we are not 10% cheaper than more than one competitor.

Example 1

  • Your comparable grocery shop is £110 at ASDA, £100 at Tesco, £111 at Morrisons, £125 at Sainsbury's and £130 at Waitrose. Tesco are cheapest.
  • Your comparable grocery shopping is £10 cheaper at Tesco.
  • 10% cheaper than Tesco's £100 comparable grocery shop is £90. As such in total you'll receive a voucher for £20.00 to ensure your comparable grocery shop is 10% cheaper at ASDA.

Terms and Conditions

1a. Price comparisons, where purchases are made in store, are based on what the customer actually buys, and therefore includes price reductions and promotions (such as "2 for £1" and "buy one get one free" where the customer buys the quantities required) but promotions such as "buy strawberries and get cream free" are excluded due to the difficulty in making fair comparisons.
1b. Price comparisons, where orders are made online, are based on what the customer actually orders. In rare circumstances we may, at no additional cost to the customer, need to substitute items that have since become unavailable.
2. The price data used for comparison of products is obtained as follows:
2.1 mysupermarket obtain prices (except Morrisons) from daily web scans of the Tesco, Sainsbury's and Waitrose Home Shopping sites
2.2 Morrisons prices are collected instore (by an independent agency) twice a week (Monday and Wednesday), and therefore unlike Tesco, Sainsbury's and Waitrose, are only updated twice per week. Morrisons prices are collected in stores each week around Great Britain;
2.2.1 Prices are taken from the shelf price label for each product in Morrisons; If any product is sold out, then we'll still use the shelf price label. If however a product has a price marked on it, then the lowest price will be used for the comparison.
2.2.2 mySupermarket have audited the Morrisons collection process, and will only include comparisons that they are confident are accurate.
2.3 Where prices are found to be different across stores (in the case of Morrisons) or across website postcodes sampled (in the case of Tesco, Sainsbury's and Waitrose), the most commonly occurring price is used.
3. In-store customers will need to wait until 6am the morning after shopping before using the ASDA Price Guarantee. Online customers will need to wait up to 48 hours after your homeshopping order is delivered before using the ASDA Price Guarantee.
4. All comparable products are included in the Price Guarantee.
5. Fresh items which are purchased on "Whoops" in ASDA will be excluded from the ASDA Price Guarantee as these are store specific discounts on damaged or short date coded items. Non fresh items that are purchased on "Whoops" will be compared at the original price.
6. The ASDA Price Guarantee website will be updated daily (with Tesco, Sainsbury's and Waitrose prices) and twice weekly (for Morrisons prices) for customers to check their receipts.
7. Given mySupermarket independently collect prices from the grocery home shopping websites of Tesco, Sainsburys and Waitrose on a daily basis (as well as ASDA), any item that doesn’t appear on these homeshopping websites will not be included in the ASDA Price Guarantee. mySupermarket regularly review and update the lines included in the ASDA Price Guarantee based on what is ranged and in stock at each supermarket
8. Where the item is not stocked in a Morrisons store, or not available for comparison on the Tesco, Sainsbury's and Waitrose websites, the product is shown as 'not available' (N/A).
9. All prices we obtain for the other relevant supermarkets are believed to be correct. However, with so many prices checked, on rare occasions there may be some inaccuracies.

12. The difference in price shown between the comparable items in your shopping at ASDA and the other relevant supermarkets will be the total price for all comparable products in the basket/trolley.
13. Items that customers have returned will be excluded from the ASDA Price Guarantee.
14. Claims will be made via voucher (in store) or e-voucher (online). You must ensure that you retain your original receipt as vouchers are not valid without the original receipt. 24. Items purchased in store concessions (for example, travel agents, dry cleaning services) are not ASDA products and are therefore not comparable in the ASDA Price guarantee.
25. Vouchers cannot be redeemed at in store concessions. Vouchers cannot be redeemed against the following items and categories: Kiosk (including Tobacco, Newspapers and Magazines), Fuel, Lottery, Gift Cards, Mobile Phone Top-Up Cards, Infant Formula, Optical and Prescriptions.
26. mySupermarket only compare like for like products (i.e. branded products that are identical or very similar own label equivalents) For very similar own label products mySupermarket ensure these products meet the same needs or are intended for the same purpose.

Ways in which mySupermarket do this include:

  • Identifying the key characteristics of the products including flavour, whether it is organic, Fairtrade, low fat, gluten free, free range or eco-friendly and ensuring that they are not matched in a way that gives any retailer an artificial advantage.
  • Where products are of a different size, weight or volume ensuring that the difference in size, weight or volume does not favour one retailer over another.
  • Compare goods where there is no more than a 10% difference in size/weight/volume and will ensure that the prices are adjusted so that the equivalent price of identical size/weight/volume products are compared.
